Curved alcove unit in cherry

This property in hanover, Brighton had an awkward alcove as many Brighton properties do! The client wasn't sure whether to have a very shallow alcove unit or a deeper one which stuck out into the room. I worked with them on the design and came up with the idea of curving the whole front of the unit so that it flowed with the shape of the room. It worked beautifully and the rich colour of the cherry complimented other pieces of furniture in the room. The same customer now wants a large curved wardrobe for their bedroom!... I'll keep you posted!

Loft Room Wardrobes

Many people in Brighton have limited room for storage. Brighton Carpenters can fit a wardrobe, cupboard or bookcase into any shaped room or alcove. This unit has double and full length hanging space and plenty of fully adjustable shelves. We also provide a full painting service.

Country Cottage Chairs

As well as designing and making new pieces of furniture Blue Sky Brighton Carpenters also carry out restoration work. This set of Beech country cottage chairs where thick with coats of varnish and grease. I sanded them back to new wood and applied a few coats of wax to breath new life into them. I also glued all the loose and creaky joints... Good as new!!

Sycamore Bedside Cabinets

Over Christmas I have been making a pair of Sycamore bedside cabinets for a flat in the centre of Brighton. They have "touch to open" drawers which extend to give full access to the drawer. I had pieces of glass made to protect the top from hot drinks etc. The finish I used was a wax which protects the Sycamore without yellowing the lovely pale white colour of this timber.
